Shola Animashaun, also known as SA, is a self-taught Nigerian photographer. A graduate of Accounting from the Kwara State Polytechnic, he acquired his first camera in June 2002, a few weeks before he received the clarion call to serve his nation in the National Youth Service Corp (NYSC). Of course film photography was a daunting task, but he learnt the ropes with multiple trials and errors to eventually become exceptionally good at it.
Fast forward to two years, SA turned down a lucrative job offer from an accounting firm, after waiting for almost two years to get one. After so much deliberation, he decided to start with what he could lay his hands on; a camera! His career in photography started when he got a job as the in-house photographer for Nigeria's number one urban lifestyle and music magazine, Hip Hop World. Seven years later, with priceless experiences on-the-job and challenges to be grateful to, SA has metamorphosed from being a neophyte to being one of the most reliable names to reckon with within the Nigerian photography and entertainment industry.
His photography outfit has executed assignments for the biggest names and brands in the entertainment scene and has also covered world class concerts and assignment within and outside of the country. His brilliant works have graced strategic billboards, major magazine covers, Lagos State buses, stadia and has made headlines on different Nigerian blogs and print medias. His outfit has also worked on official assignments on both State and national levels; a few of which include the internationally recognized Eyo Festival, Lagos Carnival, Nigerian Tourism Expo in Atlanta Georgia and Barbados respectively, to mention a few.
Shola Animashaun is well travelled and has executed photography assignments in countries like Egypt, Ethiopia, South Africa, Brazil and the United States. He has also been tutoring in photography schools and workshops across Lagos for the past two years further entrenching his dreams of interpreting his world and adding value to lives through photography.
